After seeing that Boston was full for 2010, I decided to go a bigger step. "Why not run a 100 miler?" So I paid the money. So far, still up in air as to a training program but was told that I just have to run A LOT on the weekends.

Power hiking with a 100 mile expert this weekened. Stay tuned.!!!

Where have I been

I've certainly been to busy too blog but its Friday so why not.

The last two weeks have been okay. Last week, the sinuses were acting up and I only got in 33 miles for the week. On good note, I ran a race Saturday, June 22nd and held onto an 8 minute mile after suffering a sinus infection, AGAIN. UUUUGGG!

This week I am pushing 55 miles but that does not include Saturday's run which could end up being close to 65. Second time busting the 60 mile mark. I had an awesome track workout last night. 1x400 at 1:55, 1x800 at 3:50, 1x1200 at 5:45 and 1x400 at 1:55. I hit my splits at 1:33, 3:34, 5:45 and 1:47. I was happy with that but I had to do some walking recovery.

No races this week. Next up Peachtree Road Race but that will be just a regular Friday recovery run.

My next big race is the Chicago Distance Classic Half Marathon. I'm so excited that I can't wait. My time for a hill half course is 1:48 and some seconds. Since CDC is flat, I hoping to come well under an 1:48 and even maybe I can run under that 1:37 qualifying time for New York 2010. You never know, miracles can happen.

Stayed tuned for more!!! Later!!

First time past 60

Last week was the first time that I can ever remember running 60 miles in one week. I always get there a little early to warm up anywhere from three to five miles. This run takes place in Virgina Highlands which is an older part of Atlanta. Check back later and I will have some pictures.

I started about 6:30 and the weather was real cool. Along the route, two good looking guys passed me going the opposite direction. And "YES", I turned my head and watch both as the ran by me. No hollering but just a "turn my head, run into a tree" look!!!!

Around 7, I meet up with the group (only four show up). Tonight was an easy night. Just relaxed and took my time.

Afterwards, we met at George's for beer and burgers. Always my favorite mid week stress reliever. Stay tuned, there's more to come.

Not Quite 100% Yet

Last night I met my trail running group for a run at Kennesaw Mountain. It did not go quite as well as I expected. I got there a little early and did some hill repeats on this small hill and went to a little bit bigger hill. The hill repeats went well because I walked the recovery. Finally, I met up with the group and we started to the visitor's center. This is the part that really sucked. I usually can keep up with the group but last night I could feel my heart rate getting too high so I would have to walk to settle my rate back down. I ended up stopping at five miles and heading back for a beer. THE BEER WAS AWESOME!!!!

This morning I got up and did a route behind my apartment. 3.42 in 34 minutes and some seconds. Sunday when I did this same route it took me 37 minutes and some seconds because of all the walking I had to do. My heart rate did not get out of control as much this morning as it did last night. Luckily, my sister, the Pharacist, said that all the sinus medicine and nasal spray could make my heart rate get a little wacky. Hopefully, by next week my system will be back to normal.

Wednesday nights is usually run and beer night with the BOYZ. This is the first time I've been in two weeks. Stay Tuned.

My first Blog

Okay, so today I've decided to become a blogger. Today is Tuesday, May 13, 2008. Wow, two more days til PAYDAY!!!

The plan this morning was to get out of bed a 4 a.m. to head to the gym. But of course, again that failed. With the sinus infection still lingering, my sleep pattern has not been that great. As the alarm went off, I decided to curl up with Twila and go back to sleep.

The plan for this afternoon. Run with trail group tonight and do some hill repeats on some of the massive hills at Kennesaw Mountain. We shall see how things go.
